Summary

Every year there are students whose social-emotional and academic difficulties surface. When that happens, teachers are distracted from their broader goals to help those individuals needing extra support. Understanding the process of assessing and referring students to save time and energy is important for both the individual student and overall classroom.

Learning Objectives

  1. Appreciate your role as a regular education teacher regarding atypical student issues.
  2. Understand how to collect data to support the work of the school psychologist and CST.
  3. Explore the various roles and responsibilities on the CST.
