Learning Objectives

  1. Consider the relationship between academic success (including the perceived access to academic success), dignity and safety, and student behavior.
  2. Recognize the critical importance of discovering what students already know and understand, and starting instruction from where they are.
  3. Explore examples of practical ways to accommodate students' academic needs and experiences, focusing on progress (and a different version of "fairness") to build success.
