Anxiety in Children Part III

Engagement Description


In this third segment we will answer some important questions such as: How to differentiate anxiety from ADHD and depression. What is anxiety, what causes it, and how to recognize the behavioral cues to indicate anxiety may be present. Members of the faculty provide real time examples while exploring their own experiences of students with anxiety.

Learning Objectives

  1. Learn the basic needs that may  be threatened or unmet, helping to generate anxiety.
  2. Observe educators who attempt to put themselves in the place of the anxious student and do the same at home.
  3. Begin to formulate an approach to helping a young person meet their own needs, to reduce ruminate and anticipatory anxiety.

Jared Scherz, Ph.D., M.Ed., ACS

Dr. Scherz is a clinical psychologist, author, and educational consultant, working with educators for over twenty years. He earned his Master's in Education from Penn State University and went on to be an elementary school guidance counselor before earning his Ph.D.
