The use of excel spreadsheets is a simple and effective way of tracking student activity. From absenteeism to work flow, spreadsheets allow you to do calculations as well for finding trends and other relevant data.

Learning Objectives

  1. Structure an Excel workbook for keeping attendance in multiple classes
  2. Use grouped worksheets to add and format dates for the entire semester
  3. Insert a row for days and deleting unnecessary columns for holidays and breaks
  4. Add student information as row headings on each worksheet
  5. Format cells with alignment and border options
  6. Create a total absences column using the COUNTIF function
  7. Apply conditional formatting to attendance records and total absences cells
  8. Freeze panes to simplify recording absences as attendance data
