Learning how to be at odds with somebody but maintain contact, is among the most difficult tasks of a human being. As we appreciate conflict as the exploration of difference, we are no longer threatened by differences, but curious about the learning they offer. Evolving conflict resolution into constructive differencing means deepening relationships and reducing the risks of alienation, apathy, or aggression. This represents the CASEL core competency of Relationship Skills.

Jared Scherz, Ph.D., M.Ed., ACS

Dr. Scherz is a clinical psychologist, author, and educational consultant, working with educators for over twenty years. He earned his Master's in Education from Penn State University and went on to be an elementary school guidance counselor before earning his Ph.D.
