Class Climate & SEL Part II

Engagement Details

Dr. Jane Bluestein offers more practical strategies for increasing positivity, reinforcing effort and progress, and engaging parent support. She will differentiate between acknowledgement and praise, as well as recognition vs. approval, and address the importance of connectedness in our schools.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discover positive alternatives to praise and conditional approval, and learn how depending on these familiar behaviors can compromise safety for all students.
  2. Learn ways to recognize and reinforce student behavior and achievement by keeping the focus on them and the outcomes they can access (rather than the impact on you).
  3. Explore the value of connectedness and building strong alliances with students' parents.
