The asthma action plan is required to be on file for all students with asthma. It contains 3 zones. The green zone is when the child is doing well and contains their controller medications, if any. The yellow zone is when they are starting to have trouble breathing and contains rescue medications. The red zone is when things have gotten worse and contains rescue medications and discussing the next step in treatment- the doctors office, the ER, or calling 911. Use it to tell you what medication to use when and do not change or stop medications without taking to your physician first.
